A major hospital development
We built the Royal Derby Hospital for the Southern Derbyshire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust. This project involved the remodelling and redevelopment of the Derby City General Hospital site.
An energy-efficient healthcare facility
The new 155,000 m2 development combines services from two former healthcare providers, the Derby City General Hospital and the Derbyshire Royal Infirmary. The acute facility offers a modern, energy-efficient healthcare environment on one site, with state-of-the-art equipment.
Minimal disruption
Project delivery was phased to ensure the hospital could maintain its services throughout, minimising the impact for patients, visitors and staff members. We also funded the new 1,159-bed acute hospital as an equity investor, along with other consortium members.
Amenities delivered at Royal Derby Hospital include:
- accident and emergency facilities
- a roof-mounted helicopter landing pad
- 35 operating theatres
- a three-storey treatment centre for day patients
- an obstetrics department
- children’s wards
- a gynaecology department
Ongoing support
Our team will provide ongoing soft and hard facilities management for the trust until at least 2043. These include general maintenance and repair and clinical waste management.
